SouthWestern Brick Institute (SWBI)
If you've ever strolled the streets of the
French Quarter in New Orleans, you know what an important role
architecture plays in giving a city its character. And if you've
ever looked closely at the historic buildings and impressive homes
that make up this unique community, you know that a lot of the
city's personality is derived from brick.
It's the same wherever you travel. From the
plains of Kansas to the booming metropolises of Dallas and Houston,
brick provides instant tradition. Stability. Lasting beauty. No
other building material offers such a varied range of textures
and colors. And no other material actually becomes more attractive
with age.
The SouthWestern Brick Institute. Building
a case for brick.
As a regional office of the Brick Institute of America, the SouthWestern
Brick Institute represents clay brick manufacturers in the booming
southwestern region of the United States, namely Arkansas, Kansas,
Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Among the many functions of the organization is working with
educational institutions and vocational trade groups to promote
the training and eventual job placement of skilled brick masons.
Additionally, the Institute provides technical information about
bricks to architects, builders, engineers, and other building
professionals.
One of the most important functions of the Southwest Brick Institute
is encouraging the use of this superior product. To this end,
the SouthWestern Brick Council was established in 1992 as the
promotional arm of the Institute, representing national manufacturers
and distributors in the southwestern region of the country.
